Dear Ontario library staff,

Knowledge Ontario, through its Resource Ontario project, is delighted
to announce the databases that have been licensed for all participant
libraries for 2009 through to the end of 2010. Thanks to the
generosity of the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of
Culture, the Resource Ontario committee has negotiated to bring the
citizens of Ontario a diverse, informative and essential mix of online
database resources.

This is not yet public. Libraries are being informed of this wonderful
news now so that you can get set up quickly but please do not release
word to the public or media until the Minister of Culture, Aileen
Carroll, has made the official announcement on January 29 at the
Ontario Library Association Super Conference.

All the information you need will be uploaded to the wiki in the next
weeks. Please hold all inquiries for the time being. Your sector
organizations and Knowledge Ontario will post or send you all the
information you need around registering, credits and other aspects of
how the databases will affect you.

The formal announcement will be made following the minister's
announcement. Come to the Knowledge Ontario booth at Super Conference
(booth 813/815) on Friday January 30 for the full list. Most of the
vendors are exhibiting at Super Conference and look forward to
answering your questions. We'll have a list of the vendors at the
Knowledge Ontario booth #813 and, on Friday, a full list of databases
on hand.

Congratulations to the Resource Ontario committee for their abundant
and careful work in licensing these databases on behalf of Ontarians.
We look forward to celebrating and promoting these databases with
Ontario libraries in coming days.
