Working with the Energy Managemnet Tool!
I am looking forward to attending the 2009 OLA Super Conference; this will be my second time at the conference. I graduated from the Library Information Technician program at Seneca College last April, at present I am working for Local Authority Services (LAS), which is a corporate subsidiary wholly owned by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO). My primary job tile is Data Entry Technician for the Energy Management Tool (EMT). One of my responsibilities is to use an Excel-based tool to collect data from the municipalities regarding their energy consumption (Electricity and Natural Gas) and input the information, such as: Account Number, Start and End Date Time Stamps, Commodity, Consumption, Cost, Peak Demand Values, Peak Demand Time Stamp, Meter Number. Once this is done the data is uploaded into the Energy Management Tool (EMT) that
“is a web-based software application that allows Ontario municipalities to benchmark and compare facility performance, measure and verify savings from energy conservation projects, reduce operational costs and improve processes, and meet corporate environmental stewardship gaols including greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions.”
(EMT the Energy Management Tool. Toronto: LAS Local Authority Services.)
I have been engaged with this contract for the past 3 months and find it very rewarding, I am very happy to be able to be apart of the new and evolving industry. I feel that I am now able to help with the challenge of helping the plant and everyone who live on it to minimizing the effect that we as stewards have on our home.
