2009 Horizon Report - Also on Future Trends

This is a very interesting article. Here is another report on technology trends in education. The just released 2009 Horzon Report which is based on "ongoing primary research effort that draws on a comprehensive body of published resources, current research and practice" looks at future technological in education states the the two top trends are portability such as netbooks and cloud computing such as Google Apps. read report I find most of this report is very relevant to school libraries. Read Report at http://www.nmc.org/pdf/2009-Horizon-Report.pdf Quotes from report cloud computing ..."Inexpensive, simple solutions to offsite storage, multi-user application scaling, hosting, and multi-processor computing are opening the door to wholly different ways of thinking about computers, software, and files."

Thanks for the update and reminder!

Thanks for the update on what we can look forward to, and for the reminder with trend #1 on how lucky we are to work in libraries.  We are in unique positions especially in school and public libraries where our services are accessible by all members who choose to participate and engage with us to grow and support our communities!  Vancouver Library has already been recognized by Maclean's for helping this city become one of Canada's "smartest" citites.  Check out the article provided by Gale via Resource Ontario: http://tinyurl.com/pp2pfg
