That Warm Fuzzy Feeling

The Board I work for (PDSB) is switching the library system from Horizon to Symphony. In order to facilitate a smooth transition, the libraries had to stop circulation a little earlier than usual.

I had book talked a novel to a class about two weeks before we had to shut down not fully realizing we'd be shutting down so early. I'd had plenty of notice - it was just a case of dates creeping up on me unaware.
At that time, a girl who is a self professed complete non-reader, and one who hadn't signed out anything all year, decided that she would give the book a try.
She hadn't finished the book before I asked for all books to be returned (May 29), and came to me to say the book was "pretty good" and wondering was there any way she could keep the book a little longer because she wanted to read "a little bit more".

Of course, I happily agreed.

Wait for it - the story gets even better.

Same girl, Tuesday morning (book had been returned Monday) dances up to me while I'm on morning duty.
Non-reader girl has a BOOK in her hand. It's the SEQUEL to the one I recommended. She purchased it with her OWN money on the weekend!
Then, she wants to have a conversation with me right there on the school tarmac, in front of almost 600 middle school students; she's only on chapter four, but she's already worried about what has happened to Derek and Simon and whether he's going to die if he doesn't get his insulin or whether it's just a trap...

WOW! Kinda makes you get that warm, fuzzy feeling all over! :-)
