Tonight was a mixer for the FIMS department (Faculty of Information and Media Studies). I forced myself to go, I was already at home and it was snowing etc. I am glad that I did. It was a needed break from studies, papers due (unfortunately, they are still due) and being down in my basement room all alone. I am a very social being, and I have become less so over the course of this degree (all 6 weeks of it so far). It is good to be forced out into the world again. The only down side of a mixer with students and profs is that you do tend to talk about what you are doing all day long. So, no escape from information science, but at least I was among a group of people with drinks in their hands and smiles on their faces.

A big project is due tomorrow night. I wonder how long those smiles will last once everyone gets home.
